Summary: This dissertation aims to expose the scenario of greenhouse gas emissions in
the state of Espírito Santo and, with the help of the comparison between
conventional and electric vehicles already available in Brazil, identify the
reductions achievable from the implementation of electromobility in the state.
Moreover, it also aims to propose what would be the production chain and the
challenges of electromobility in Brazil and Espírito Santo and identify possible
new businesses that could arise in Espírito Santo. This dissertation is organized
into 5 chapters, which are: Chapter 1 - a general introduction; Chapter 2 –
important concepts and definitions for understanding the subjects covered in
this research; Chapter 3 – Article 1 (Electric Mobility and Greenhouse Gas
Emissions in Road Transport in the State of Espírito Santo); Chapter 4 – Article
2 (New Businesses for Electric Mobility in Espírito Santo) and; Chapter 5 - a
general conclusion. The methodology used for the dissertation can be defined
as explanatory and applied, with a qualitative approach, since its results can
contribute to the formulation and decision-making of actions necessary for the
electric car market in the state of Espírito Santo. For Gil (2008), explanatory
research consists of identifying the factors that determine or contribute to the
occurrence of phenomena, WHEREas applied research has as a fundamental
characteristic the interest in the application, use and practical consequences of
knowledge. This research showed that the adoption of EVs at a global level is a
reality. Many countries are paying attention to this and making drastic changes
to encourage this adoption. In addition, the reduction in GHG emissions from
the use of EVs is real and significant and Espírito Santo can undoubtedly play a
leading role in Brazilian electromobility, with the creation of several new
businesses. The State therefore plays a leading role within this process of
insertion of electromobility and its participation and leadership is essential,
directing and helping society in search of sustainable and environmentally
correct alternatives for transport, especially in urban centers.
