Summary: The study analyzed the direct impact urbanization has on river basins and the flow of the basins; specifically due to the installation of a port and the retroarea. Compensatory drainage techniques were used for slowing flow growth: permeable floor VS a holding reservoir with an earth dam. The analysis considered the last 15 to 25 years, considering the basins in its current situation, totally urbanized and partially urbanized. After the hydrological simulations, the compensatory drainage techniques were economically analyzed considering the basins current urbanized status. The results obtained from the urbanization of the basins, demonstrated the growth of the Curve Number (CN) while the drainage systems efficiencies lowered the Curve Number (CN) between 30 and 50% of the basins flow when compared to the urbanized basins flow (without considering the compensatory techniques). Economic analysis has shown that the use of a land dam (as a holding reservoir) rather than the traditional floor has a lower cost compared to installing the permeable floor, mainly due to the physical characteristics of the basins. It has also been highlighted the cost participation as to the origin: Public and Private.
